Newsletter: October 2016
Dear Parents,
Ni Hao!
For the past month, the Grade 7 Chinese class was busy learning expressing feeling of hunger and thirst. Students had demonstrated their language skills in the assessments including a skit at Chinese restaurant. They all did well and had lots of fun with their roles. Currently, we are on the calendar unit with Ni Hao Book Two. Students will be able to ask and answer dates, days of the week, people’s birthdays as well as asking for permission. They will also gain basic knowledge of the Chinese lunar calendar and three important festivals.
Recently 7th Grade students complete the first chapter exam of the 2016-2017 school year. They received their results last week as we looked at the exam in depth in class. All of the students have to complete a reflection on their exam summary sheets in class. They supposed to bring the yellow sheet home and discuss the result with you. We’ll do this procedure every chapter from now on. Please spend some time with your child on the reflection so that he/she can do better for the next time.
Beside activities in class, students are requested to check Schoology every day for homework and assignment. With Schoology, I assign online homework for students to review and use the language they learned in class on a daily base. Parents can monitor student’s homework and progress through a parent account. Please contact me if you are interested in setting up a parent account.
For the parent conference on November 8th, I’ll be available to meet you at Sherwood Middle School in room 263. Many parents have scheduled a slot for that day. Please feel free to contact me if you haven’t done so or you need to schedule on a different day. I look forward to talking with you regarding your child’s progress.
Respectfully,
