Newsletter: February 2017
Dear parents,
Currently Grade 7 Chinese students are exploring the chapter of positions and one’s house. Students now are able to describe their ideal house, including style of the house, how many rooms and the brief floor plan. We’ve played fun games and used interesting activities to review the content in class. For culture, students will soon have the opportunity to experience the concept of Feng-Shui for the aspect of cultural study in this chapter.
Besides learning Chinese language, students are excited about the Chinese New Year and related activities. Students did a great job at the New Year Celebration at Shrewsbury High School on January 28th. You can watch their performance with this link (https://goo.gl/bNH8X4)
As a friendly reminder, the after school extra help is back now. Please take advantage of this service from Shrewsbury High School Chinese Honor Society. You can sign your child up for the help almost every Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm to 4pm. Here is the link (https://goo.gl/IgnZml). You can find the link at Schoology Chinese page as well.
There will be another exciting event coming up for Chinese students! “Under the Chinese Lanterns”! A night full of crafts and fun entertainment for kids hosted by the National Chinese Honor Society (NCHS)! NCHS is hosting a carnivalesque fundraiser at Sherwood Middle School on Friday March 31st from 6-9 PM. The admission is $5 per person ($3 for student performer) and allows each individual access to Chinese cuisine, art, music, and games at the Sherwood Gymnasium. Come watch students from grades 6-12 perform little skits and dances to show off what we have learned this year. Please come and experience a fun night filled with Chinese culture with your friends and family.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and concerns regarding your student’s Chinese study.
Sincerely,
ChinHuei Yeh
